Paradise in the Pacific By Mandy Brown
Flying over Aitutaki, as you come into land, after a 45 minute journey from Rarotonga, with Air Rarotonga, it is picture perfect – photoshop is not required.
Once you have journeyed around the island and incredible blue lagoon you will see you have truly arrived in paradise - the Pacific Resort Aitutaki.
It is the best accommodation on the island, and is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, recognised with numerous awards, including “World’s Leading Boutique Island Resort “at the World Travel Awards.
There are 27 beach front luxury rooms, with a choice of bungalows, villas or suites. You can relax on your own balcony snooze in a hammock in the trees, or on your own lounger on the beach close to the water’s edge.
The main building with the reception area and Rapae Bay Restaurant is built with the landscape in mind, molded around the rocks and existing trees. The view looks over the lagoon, the infinity pool and the Black Rock Café, great for cocktails and to watch the sunset.
The environment is always a consideration on a small island. The Pacific Resort has recently developed a Marine Eco-trail. This self-guided snorkeling trail in the lagoon is in front of the resort. Guests can find a map in their room, providing an overview of the lagoon and the six different habitats. I spent several hours in the lagoon mesmerised by the sea life.
Of course with any 5 star award winning resort, there is a spa and the Tiare Spa won’t disappoint. I did not having time on my recent stay to experience the spa but I have been lucky enough to have spent time at the spa on a previous visit
Overall, the 5 star experience was impressive with great food and beverage choices available, the quality of the rooms and products plus the friendly service from the staff.
When you are visiting the most beautiful and picturesque island in the Pacific you must stay at the Pacific Resort, Aitutaki.
